SHOW CANCELLATION 

Unfortunately, due to an accident on his property two days ago, John has to cancel/postpone the following upcoming shows:

1. Tamworth Town Hall - Friday 26 January
2. Redland Performing Arts Centre – Thursday 1 February
3. Ipswich Civic Centre – Friday 2 February
4. Empire Theatre Toowoomba – Saturday 3 February

John was working on one of his artistic passions - sculpture art, when a large rock crushed his hand and he had to undergo immediate surgery.

 The good news is that he will recover completely, but it will take a number of weeks to heal before he can perform again.

 John is so disappointed he’ll miss his regular Town Hall concert at TCMF 2024 but will be back in 2025.

We will advise, as soon as possible, new dates for the shows at Redland, Ipswich and Toowoomba, so please hold on to your tickets until further notice.

 We appreciate your understanding and all wish John well for his speedy recovery.

In Concert

Tamworth has always been special for John and he just loves the atmosphere of the Tamworth Town Hall. With his bronze statue in the main street it’s hard to stay away and make sure those boots are still well polished. So, John will be returning in 2024 for his Friday night spot at the Town Hall on Australia Day, Friday 26^th January.

From humble beginning as a young wheat farmer from the Mallee, John walked into Richmond’s GTV9 studios in 1970 with a guitar under his arm and one song, Old Man Emu, to his name. His performance of Old Man Emu on Channel Nine’s popular New Faces program resulted in a number one single and a record deal. Fifty-four years later he still has sell-out audiences captivated by his songs across this diverse continent. He captures Australia, its people and landscapes in song like no other. But perhaps John’s greatest legacy is in making Australians proud of their country and of who they are.

‘It’s always special to be at Tamworth once again for the Country Music Festival. It’s a major link to my rural fans. The festival itself celebrates what it is to be Australian. Our songwriters are carrying on what Banjo Paterson and Henry Lawson started all those years ago. Our young, talented kids can be confident that they will get the encouragement and support to write and sing about their own bush experiences. It encourages pride in country. I’m looking forward to being there once again and catching up with old friends.’

John’s honours include the ARIA Hall of Fame, an Order of Australia, 28 Golden Guitar Awards, Australian Roll of Renown induction, 52 albums­–including 20 original studio albums, well over 5 million albums sold, more than 1 billion digital streams and thousands of shows performed. Despite trying to slow down and spend more time at home, John isn’t ready to hang up his trusty Maton guitar just yet.

So, don’t miss True Blue himself, before the mountains of Springbrook and his recently completed chook shed take him away from touring. Moving between his larrikin humour and touching pathos, this iconic storyteller will make you laugh, make you cry and take you to places you’ll just have to visit for yourself!
